President ordered to withdraw from the capital of three banks by the yearend

President Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting on the current development of the country, the Presidential press service informed.

At a briefing after the meeting, Chairman of the Board of SWF "Samruk-Kazyna" Umirzak Shukeyev noted that as a result of restructuring and other activities external debt of "BTA Bank" has been reduced from $ 9 billion to $ 750 million, a new system of management of financial institutions has been built. The head of state gave instructions for the current year to withdraw from the capital of JSC "BTA Bank", JSC "Alliance Bank", and JSC "Temirbank", the press service informed.

It is also reported that the meeting they discussed the state of the banking sector, pension reform and the further development of the oil and gas industry, in addition, reviewed the progress of execution of orders given at the extended government meeting with the head of the state and envisaged in the Strategy "Kazakhstan-2050".

During the meeting, President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the banking system has taken a number of measures to reduce debt and it is necessary to continue the process, press service said.

Moreover, the President of Kazakhstan noted the need of taking appropriate action to improve the efficiency of the pension system, and underscored the need to identify and further steps to address current issues in the oil and gas sector.

According to the press service, the meeting was attended by Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov, Head of the Presidential administration, Karim Massimov, Deputy Prime Minister Kairat Kelimbetov, the Deputy Head of the Presidential administration Bakhyt Sultanov, Chairman of the Board of JSC National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" Umirzak Shukeyev, Oil and Gas Minister Mynbayev.

"Following the meeting, the President gave a number of specific tasks within the given direction of work," the press service concluded.
