Almaty. October 21. Kazakhstan Today - The President of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Minister of Petroleum Industry of Algeria, Shakib Helil, considers that prices for oil will not decrease below $70 - 90 for a barrel, the agency reports referring to the information-analytical portal Oil of Russia.

As a rule, OPEC does not establish a target price. It is defined by the market. Floor price is about $70 - 90 for a barrel," S. Helil said.

He gave Canada and Brazil as an example where oil will not be extracted if prices for oil will decrease below $70.

To maintain market balance, it will be necessary to reduce oil extraction. I cannot tell precisely what will be the level of oil extraction. The decision will be accepted at OPEC session," the chairman of the international oil cartel informed referring to the Algerian mass media.

S. Helil has not excluded the fact that OPEC session participants will make a decision to lower volume of oil extraction in two stages. He explained that such decision is necessary to get rid of overabundance of oil in the market and to strengthen prices for oil. "Now it is not known whether we will make a decision to lower volume of oil extraction up to 2 million barrels a day, but it is very likely that this decision will be accepted in two stages to maintain stability of oil prices," OPEC President said.
