Several unique operations conducted within "Hospital of Future" project

Almaty. August 15. Kazakhstan Today - A project titled "Hospital of Future" is implemented within "Salamatty Kazakhstan" Program. Unique cardiac and neurosurgical operations are carried out within this project this year, Kazakhstan Today reports.

Highly-specialized medical services are rendered within the guaranteed volume of free medical care provided within the Unified National Health System, the Prime Minister's official website writes with the reference to the press service of the National Medical Holding.

A device of the last generation called Heart Ware was implanted to patient in the cardio-surgery center in 2011. Thanks to it, Kazakhstan joined the world top 20 most development countries that carry out unique high-tech open heart surgeries.

A great breakthrough in the national medicine was an operation of transplantation of a donor heart to a patient with chronic cardiac failure that was performed in 2012, the press service informed.

The heart of a 46-year old woman who died of apoplexy was donated to a 38-years old patient. Presently, this patient is in the intensive care department under permanent control of a surgical team.

Besides, noninvasive technique of cardiac surgery was mastered in the cardio-surgery center. The new method is safer and don't require cuts and cardiopulmonary arrest and reduced the time of rehabilitation.

Six patients with aortic valve stenosis underwent such surgeries. According to the doctors, these patients came back to normal life in a few days after the operations.

Besides, an operation on transplantation of an artificial heart to a patient was performed on July 3, 2012 for the first time in Kazakhstan.

The artificial heart was transplanted to a 61-yeal old patient with severe pathology of cardiovascular system. This was the third operation on transplantation of an artificial heart in the world. The first one was performed in Germany, the second - in the USA and the third - in Kazakhstan.

The operation implied complete dissection of the right and left ventricles of the heart followed by implantation of two Heart Ware blood pump devices able to pump up to 10 liter of blood per minute.

One of the main achievements of Kazakhstani neurosurgery was allogeneic transplantation of bone marrow to a child withrelapse of acute myeloid leukemia performed in the Center of Motherhood and Childhood.

An operation on bone marrow transplantation to 15-year old Nikolay Pshenyanov from Ust-Kamenogorsk was performed in April this year. Presently, complete engraftment of bone narrow is stated.

Besides, the first surgery on neurostimulation of the spinal cord was carried out in the center this year as well.

In whole, the high technologies of treatment and diagnostics are intensively developing all over the country and widely applied in all medical institutions of all levels in all regions of the country.

As the Healthcare Ministry informs, the number of patients received highly-specialized medical care in the regions increased 3 times reaching 8910 people or 57.4% of the total number over the first half of 2012. 42.6% ofthepatientsunderwenttreatmentinthenationalclinics. Thereat, increase of the number of cardio-surgical services allowed to reduce the number of patients and people died at home by 40% and the number of people died in hospitals by 12%.

41 innovative treatment and diagnostics technologies are planned to be introduced in the clinics of the Medical Holding this year. Totally, 110 innovative technologies have been introduced in the clinics of the National Medical Holding since 2008.
