Krakow. October 11. Kazakhstan Today - Shopping centres market in Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Russia to increase by over 20% in 2012.

"In Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, the combined stock of gross leasable area (GLA) in shopping centres reached almost 16.5 million m2 at the end of 2011, which is nearly 6.3 million m2 more than before 2009," according to the newest PMR report "Shopping centres in CIS countries 2012. Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Market analysis and development forecasts for 2012-2014", published on the PMR website.

"The development of the retail real estate markets in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan started to gain momentum in the early 2000s. Impressive macroeconomic performance, booming retail markets, and underdevelopment in terms of shopping centre supply have made these countries a very attractive region for retail space developers. At the end of 2011, 532 shopping centres of at least 10,000 m2 of GLA were in operation in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, providing a combined 16.5 million m2 of shopping space, according to PMR estimates," the report says.
