Subsistence minimum grows in Kazakhstan

As of early November of 2018, the amount of subsistence minimum has equaled KZT 28.6 thousand in Kazakhstan, an 11.2% increase compared to the same period of last year (KZT 25.7 thousand). In 2017, the amount of subsistence minimum increased by 9.7% - from KZT 23.5 thousand to KZT 25.7 thousand year-to-year, finprom.kz reports.

The biggest increase in the subsistence minimum over the last five years is seen in this year - an 11.2% increase. For comparison, the prices for goods and services went up by 5.3% year-to-year, including foods and services - by 4.7%, and non-food products - by 6.5%.

The survey has revealed that as of the end of October of this year, the biggest amount of subsistence minimum has been observed in the Mangystau region - KZT 36.2 thousand on average per capita. It is followed by such big cities as Astana and Almaty totaling at KZT 33 thousand and KZT 32 thousand respectively. The top-5 regions with the biggest subsistence minimum also include Eastern Kazakhstan (KZT 29.7 thousand) and the Atyrau region (KZT 29.2 thousand).

The low subsistence minimum has been registered in the Pavlodar region (KZT 26 thousand), the Kyzylorda region (KZT 25.8 thousand), and the Zhambyl region (KZT 25.3 thousand).

Note, following the new system for calculating the subsistence minimum the amount of non-food products and reimbursable services takes 45% of the total amount. As of the end of October, it has been KZT 12.9 thousand.
