Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Thailand exceeded $110 million, increasing by 76% during the first four months of 2026, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during a meeting with Thailand's Acting Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, according to the presidential press service, Akorda.

The heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states have instructed relevant authorities to complete preparations for the introduction of new rules governing cross-border e-commerce from Jan. 1, 2027.
According to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have already completed the ratification of a protocol amending the EAEU Customs Code Treaty. The document will enter into force once the EEC receives the final instrument of ratification.
EEC Minister in charge of Trade Andrey Slepnev said the key change is the introduction of a separate category for goods purchased through foreign online stores, which will be subject to specific regulatory rules.
In preparation for the changes, EAEU member states are developing the necessary regulatory framework and updating their national legislation and information systems.
Once the new rules take effect, most e-commerce goods will be subject to a uniform customs duty of 5% of their value, but no less than €1 per kilogram. The €200 duty-free threshold will remain in place.
