Unique production technology to be introduced at nickel plant in East Kazakhstan

Innovative technologies of nickel ore calcination and drying will be applied at the plant for the first time in Kazakhstan.

Almaty. July 2. Kazakhstan Today - A nickel plant will be built in East Kazakhstan region, Kazakhstan Today reports.

According to PM's press service, innovative technologies of nickel ore calcination and drying will be applied at the plant for the first time in Kazakhstan.

"Effectiveness of state support has positive effect on innovations development in Kazakhstan which is proved by establishment of new enterprises and productions. This gives impetus for development of both industrial and social spheres, improves economic climate in the regions through provision of the population with new jobs," director of "Eptic" ferronickel plant Serik Sadykov said.

An innovative, metallurgic technology of processing poor oxidized nickel ores of Kazakhstan that doesn't have analogues in the world have been developed for the plant.

The technological development was based on modernization of the Vanukov furnace. Now, it has calcination function uniting the process of raw material preparation and smelting in one complex. This innovative technology titled "Vanukov furnace - calcination system" have significant advantages.

According to developers, it will allow to increase specific capacity of existing furnaces and aggregates 8-10 times. Besides, the technology helps to process poor ores which is an innovation for metallurgy sector.

"Ability to process poor ores is an innovation in the metallurgy. It will allow Kazakhstan to become one of the world leaders in terms of poor nickel ore processing," Serik Sadykov emphasized.

The design capacity of the plant will reach 1.3 million tons per year.
