ВР lowered assessment of gas reserves of Kazakhstan

British Petroleum (BP) has lowered assessment of gas reserves of Kazakhstan. BP Statistical Review of World Energy states, the agency reports citing information-analytical portal Neft Rosii.

Almaty. June 17. Kazakhstan Today - British Petroleum (BP) has lowered assessment of gas reserves of Kazakhstan. BP Statistical Review of World Energy states, the agency reports citing information-analytical portal Neft Rosii.

According to BP assessment, proven reserves of gas in Kazakhstan, as of January 1, 2009, have amounted to 1.82 trillion cubic meters that is by 30 billion cubic meters less than the assessment of gas reserves in the beginning of 2008.

Volume of proven reserves of gas in Kazakhstan in the beginning of 2009 has amounted to 1 %. Gas production in Kazakhstan in 2008, according to the company, has totaled 30.2 billion cubic meters that is by 13.9 % more than extraction in 2007. Gas consumption in Kazakhstan in 2008, according to BP assessment, has increased by 5.1 % up to 20.6 billion cubic meters.

According to the company, proven reserves of oil in Kazakhstan, as of January 1, 2009, has been 39.8 billion barrels that coincides with BP assessment of the beginning of 2008. According to BP report, volume of proven reserves of oil in Kazakhstan in the beginning of 2009 is 3.2 % of universal oil reserves. Oil extraction in Kazakhstan has reached in 2008 1.554 million barrels per day that is by 5.1 % more than in 2007.

Oil consumption in the country has reduced in 2008 to 6.4 % that is 229 thousand barrels a day, Kazakhstan Neftegas informs.
