Almaty. May 15. Kazakhstan Today - World market of copper faces recession. Monthly average price of this metal at London stock exchange LME for the last days of May decreased. Stocks of copper in LME warehouses for the last month have increased.

According to International Copper Study Group (ICSG), world market of copper in the nearest two years is threatened with surplus of metal as rates of its consumption have been slowed down. It is expected that world extraction of copper from ores in 2008 will grow by 6 % in comparison with the last year in connection with expansion of operating capacities and construction of new mines.

According to forecasts of Australian Bank Macquarie, the problem with putting into operation of new mining projects will keep prices for copper at a high level up to 2010.
