Interagency Working Group to Be Established Under the Commission

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has expanded the mandate of the government's interagency commission responsible for implementing the constitutional principle of "Law and Order." The relevant decree was signed on Aug. 3, 2026.
Under the decree, the commission, which previously focused on crime prevention, will now coordinate the work of government agencies not only in this area but also in implementing the 2025-2030 concept for promoting the ideology of law and order in society.
The commission will be authorized to review the implementation of relevant programs, hear reports from heads and officials of government agencies, prepare recommendations, and submit proposals to the government and local executive authorities.
An interagency working group will also be established under the commission. It will analyze the work of government agencies and prepare recommendations.
The commission's key responsibilities will also include preparing a final report on the implementation of all provisions of the concept and drafting a policy document on the implementation of the "Law and Order" principle for subsequent years.
The decree also approves the composition of the commission. The prime minister will serve as its chairman, the interior minister as deputy chairman, and the head of the Interior Ministry's Committee for the Coordination of Preventive Work as secretary.
The commission will also include the prosecutor general, the chairman of the National Security Committee (KNB), deputy prime ministers, ministers and heads of several government agencies.
The decree will enter into force on Sept. 1, 2026.
