The coast of Indonesia has been struck by a strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake under the Richter scale, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

Almaty. February16. Kazakhstan Today - The coast of Indonesia has been struck by a strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake under the Richter scale, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).

According to the US National Geological Service, the earthquake's epicenter was in 295 kilometers from the city Saumlaki. The seismic centre was at the depth of 128 kilometers.

The Indonesian island Sumatra was struck by a 7.6-magnitude earthquake under the Richter scale on September 30, 2009. More than 1 thousand people died.
