Five suspected terrorists, special forces officer wounded in special operation in Atyrau region

On 12 Sept. in one of the apartment buildings of the 1st district of Kulsary town law enforcement established several persons involved in the activities of a terrorist group. For their detention an anti-terrorist operation is declared. A special legal regime is introduced in the area. A cordon was put in place and local residents were evacuated.

Atyrau. September 13. Kazakhstan Today - Five suspected terrorists were killed and one special forces officer was wounded during a special operation in Kulsary town of Atyrau region, Kazakhstan Today reports.

According to the press service of the Prosecutor General Office, on 12 Sept. in one of the apartment buildings of the 1st district of Kulsary town law enforcement established several persons involved in the activities of a terrorist group. For their detention an anti-terrorist operation is declared. A special legal regime is introduced in the area. A cordon was put in place and local residents were evacuated.

"Even before the start of any actions of the special services of the blocked persons committed detonation of several explosive devices, and also opened fire on the officers of special forces. One officer was injured. As a result of the special operation at the scene found five bodies and one person with serious injuries," the press-service informed.

The Prosecutor General Office emphasized that there no victims among the civilian population. Currently, the examinations of the scene, as well as other urgent investigation and search operations are being held.

They also recalled that on September 5 this year, in one of the houses on Moldagulova street in Atyrau detonation of IED occurred. Sakauov Nurlybek Amangalievich, born in 1991,died in the blast.

"During the inspection three improvised explosive devices, as well as components for such devices were found and confiscated. It is established that Sakauov cherished idea of committing acts of violence against members of the security forces", the press service added.

"Based on this evidence a criminal case was initiated under Articles 24 and 233 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Preparation for terrorism and terrorism). During the investigation established and arrested with court approval four accessory to the crime," the prosecutor's office concluded.
