Flood damage in South Kazakhstan to make $130 million - UN experts

Astana. March 12. Kazakhstan Today - The UN experts inform that flood damage makes, by some estimations, approximately $130 million, the agency reports referring to the UNDP in Kazakhstan press service.

"The UN experts presented the opinion on the extreme situation in the South Kazakhstan oblast after flood, the damage from which makes, by some estimations, approximately $130 million," the press service informed.

According to the press service, practical vision of the problem has been formed after the visit on March 4-6 of the delegations of the international organizations to the South Kazakhstan oblast. The structure of delegation included the representatives of UNDP, UNICEF, and the UN Supreme Commissariat for Refugees, UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and World Health Organization. The experts carried out professional estimation of the needs in humanitarian help by the local population suffered from the consequences of natural disaster.
