UN support suffered in flood in South Kazakhstan oblast

The United Nations have transferred cargo of the international humanitarian help for the total sum of nearly 4.8 million KZT for the suffered in flood in the South Kazakhstan oblast, the agency reports referring to Kazakhstan office UNDP.

Almaty. March 21. Kazakhstan Today - The United Nations have transferred cargo of international humanitarian help for the total sum of nearly 4.8 million KZT for the suffered in flood in the South Kazakhstan oblast, the agency reports referring to Kazakhstan office UNDP.

The cargo has been transferred to the South Kazakhstan branch of the National Red Cross Society for further distribution among the injured in Saryagash, Ordabas, Aryss and Shardarya regions of the South Kazakhstan oblast.

A week earlier, the UN representation in Kazakhstan distributed among potential international donors the report of assessment of the prime needs of the population in flood regions of the South Kazakhstan oblast to send humanitarian aid.

In addition to the primary humanitarian help, the United Nations in Kazakhstan takes steps in liquidation of social consequences of the disaster. The UNICEF is studying the opportunities of deliveries of potable water, rendering support to children from socially-disadvantaged families and maintenance of assistance to solution of sanitary-and-epidemiologic problems in the region. The Management of the Supreme Commissioner for Refugees of the United Nations considers the question of rendering humanitarian help in the form of deliveries of temporary shelters for the suffered population. UNDP Program intends to allocate six million KZT for solution of the problems of logistics, transportation and coordination in the actions of improvement of post crisis situation.
