Almaty to host CIS humanitarian cooperation council session

Minsk. March 16. Kazakhstan Today - Today organizational CIS member states session of humanitarian cooperation council will take place in Almaty, CIS executive committee press service informed the agency.

Implementation of the decisions of the session of the special representatives of the CIS member states leaders concerning humanitarian cooperation taken place on December 23, 2006 in Yerevan, organizational questions of the work of the Council (on chairman, the project of the regulations of his work, the work of the council in 2007 - 2008), and the questions of formation of Interstate fund of humanitarian cooperation of CIS member states, its cooperation with UNESCO and other international organizations are planned to be considered at the session.

On May 8, 2005 by the initiative of the Russian Federation at the informal summit of CIS member states leaders in Moscow, the declaration of humanitarian cooperation was adopted.

In August, 2005 at the summit in Kazan eleven presidents of CIS member states signed the agreement on humanitarian cooperation. The clause 10 of the agreement provided creation of the council of humanitarian cooperation of CIS countries.

The agreement on humanitarian cooperation council of CIS member states adopted at the council session of CIS leaders on November 28, 2006 in Minsk was signed by the Azerbaijan Republic, Republic Armenia, Belorussia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, Republic Tajikistan and Republic Uzbekistan. In 2006 at the council session of the CIS presidents on May 25 in Dushanbe the contract on creation of interstate fund was signed.
