Astana and Almaty Airports cancel flights to Germany

Strikes by security personnel in 8 large airports of Germany are taking place January 15th.
The international airports in Kazakh cities such as Astana and Almaty are canceling flights to Frankfurt due to ongoing strikes in 8 airports in Germany January 15th.

Thus, Air Astana’s 04:10 p.m. KC 921 flight to Frankfurt is canceled on the online board at Astana International Airport.

The Airport’s press office has informed that Frankfurt Airport does not operate on 15 January, resulting in cancellations.

The scheduled KC 922 flight from Frankfurt at 05.40 a.m. is also off.

Lufthansa’s LH647 flight meant to take off at 04.00 a.m. from Almaty to Frankfurt was canceled on the online board at Almaty International Airport.

On top of that, Air Astana’s 10:20 a.m. Frankfurt-Astana-Almaty flight arrives late.

According to Germany’s agency, Lufthansa has canceled over 400 flights, Fraport informs of 470 canceled flights in Frankfurt Airport.

Note, strikes by security personnel in 8 large airports of Germany are taking place January 15th.

Strikes are to rage in Germany’s Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Hanover, Bremen, Leipzig/Halle Airport, Dresden and Erfurt, with expected mass delays and flight cancellations.

Reportedly, the Verdi trade union demands to give the salary raises to security personnel of the airports. According to the trade union, following the four rounds of talks, the employers have not come up with acceptable proposals for employees yet.
