Mayor of Astana Bakhyt Sultanov paid an official visit to Amman, the capital city of Jordan, on an official website of the capital Mayor's Office.
Sister cities Astana and Amman keep on boosting the economic and cultural cooperation: one of the central streets of the Jordanian capital city was called after the capital city of Kazakhstan - Astana. Its solemn opening was attended by Mayor of Astana Bakhyt Sultanov and Mayor of the city of Amman Yousef Shawarbeh.
The friendly relations between Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Abdullah II of Jordan are exemplary, and meet the interests of both countries," said Bakhyt Sultanov.
The Mayor expressed gratitude for attention to the Kazakh leader: as is known, one of the central streets of Jordan's capital city was named after the Kazakh President in 2010.
We are grateful to all citizens of Amman for tribute paid to our Head of State. We have just visited Nursultan Nazarbayev Street with his Excellency Mr.Shawarbeh and got familiarized with its development. Now we are opening the street after the capital city of Kazakhstan, which is symbolic as this year we have marked the 20th anniversary of Astana. For sure, it will give a new impetus to bring the citizens of our cities and states together even further," said Sultanov.
In his turn, Yousef Shawarbeh also expressed confidence in further fruitful cooperation between the two states.
Our nations have model relations, and, of course, the political friendship between the Heads of State. Astana is a modern and model city. It is, therefore, a privilege for us to open Astana Street, that will reflect our friendship and fruitful cooperation," said Yousef Shawarbeh.
The opening of the street was a part of the official visit of the Mayor of the city of Astana, Bakhyt Sultanov, to the capital city of Jordan. During the meeting, the Mayors discussed the prospects for further cooperation between the two cities in diverse spheres.
Note, the memory of His Excellency Hussein bin Talal was perpetuated in January 2012 in Astana. And an agreement to become sister cities was concluded on November 2005 between the Mayor's Office of Astana and the municipal authority of the city of Amman.
