CIS Council of prime ministers to consider preparation of joint measures to increase food safety

The next session of CIS Council of prime ministers of CIS member states will consider the question of preparation of joint measures for increase of food safety on May 23 in Minsk, the agency reports referring to the press service of CIS Executive Committee.

Minsk. May 21. Kazakhstan Today - The next session of CIS Council of prime ministers of CIS member states will consider the question of preparation of joint measures for increase of food safety on May 23 in Minsk, the agency reports referring to the press service of CIS Executive Committee.

According to the press service, the Council of prime ministers will discuss 21 questions. One of the main topics of the summit will be the issue of food safety.

"The working group has been created to prepare joint measures to increase food safety of CIS member states to provide food safety at the CIS Intergovernmental Council for Agro-Industrial Complex. On the basis of analysis of the situation in agro-industrial complex of CIS countries, a group jointly with the All-Russia Research and Development Institute of Agricultural Economics has developed the project of joint measures. The document has been approved by the Council of CIS Agro-Industrial Complex and will be brought, in accordance with the established procedure, for consideration of the Economic Council," the press service informs.

This topic has been of great importance for the world community since 70th of ХХ century when world food resources became scarce. The problem of food safety has global character: production, distribution and trade of food stuffs concern every country - regardless of whether its population suffers fromhunger, malnutrition and low quality of food stuffs or is provided with enough food.
