CIS Prime Ministers Council confirmed stages of formation of common electropower market
Almaty. May 24. Kazakhstan Today - The CIS Prime Ministers Council confirmed the stages of formation of the common electropower market. The documents were signed, following the results of the council's session in St. Petersburg, the agency reports citing RIA RosBusinessConsulting (RBC).
According to the signed documents, the CIS member countries, at the first stage, plan to develop trade relations in the electric power through the interstate transmission lines, including through power supply systems of the third countries. They also plan to expand the structure of the national markets' participants and to develop trade in the electric power and free pricing in the national markets.
At the second stage, the countries plan to liberalize export and import of electric power and modernize the mechanisms of coordination of the national system and commercial operators. The parties intend to launch the common electric power market with the uniform rules for all participants at the third stage.
The plan of the main actions for realization of the cooperation concept of the CIS countries in the energy sphere has been approved. The document defines the main principles of cooperation between the CIS countries mainly based on market relations and cooperation direction in the electric power and gas industries.
