CSTO to form group of rapid reaction forces

The informal summit of the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Armenia, the Kyrgyzstan Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan took place on December 19-21st in the resort zone Burabay, the agency reports with reference to the president's press service.

Astana. December 22. Kazakhstan Today - The informal summit of the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Armenia, the Kyrgyzstan Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan took place on December 19-21st in the resort zone Burabay, the agency reports with reference to the president's press service.

Following the result of the meeting, the parties signed a number of documents. In particular, the participants of the summit came to the agreement to form within the CSTO a group of rapid reaction forces to provide safety of the states participants.

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has noted the efficiency of the last meeting. The parties plan to sign the documents creating the legal base for realization of the accepted arrangements.

As informed earlier, during the summit the parties discussed the problems connected with the world financial crisis, measures on improvement of 'the architecture' of the international and regional safety. The leaders of the states exchanged opinions on the important issues of development of the regional cooperation in the formats of such organizations, as CSTO, EurAsEC, CIS, and SCO.
