Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus to start work in 2010

Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus will start their work in the middle of 2010. The President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Businessmen, Alexander Shokhin, informed today in Moscow during the business-forum of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) Investments, Innovations, Integration, the agency reports citing RBC.

Almaty. April 15. Kazakhstan Today - Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus will start their work in the middle of 2010. The President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Businessmen, Alexander Shokhin, informed today in Moscow during the business-forum of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) Investments, Innovations, Integration, the agency reports citing RBC.

"The Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus will start their work in the middle of 2010," A. Shokhin said, having noted that creation of the union should not be "simply another attempt." According to A. Shokhin, there is another issue: a ratio of countries joining World Trade Organization (WTO) and creation of the union. "The ideal result would be introduction to WTO and formation of the Customs Union on the basis of the right to WTO membership.
