EPCH to take handicrafts delegation to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia

The delegation would also seek to explore the possibility of mutual tie-ups for design & product development.

Almaty. September 19. Kazakhstan Today - The Indian Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) organized the visit of a high-level delegation to visit Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia from September 19-26 to explore the market potential in these countries.
A press release from the council said the delegation would include Mr. S.S. Gupta, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, EPCH, Mr. R.K. Srivastava, Executive Director, National Centre for Design and Product Development (NCDPD), and senior members from thetrade, NetIndian News Network reports.

The objective of the visit is to meet senior representatives of the trade and industry, the chambers of commerce, major buyers and other interest parties in these countries and understand the current business environment, market & design trends, buyer preferences, buying patterns, various channels of distribution and publicity & promotion media in these markets, it said.

The delegation would also seek to explore the possibility of mutual tie-ups for design & product development, the release said.

The council is also participating in the Consumer Expo at Moscow to be held from September 25-28, with 12 member exporters and 6 master craft persons. A variety of Indian handicrafts would be on display in the show and will be complemented by the live demonstration by the master craftpersons.

The exports of Indian handicrafts to these three markets of is to the tune of $122 million in the year 2011-12 which is less than 5% in India's total handicrafts exports. This share is less considering the potential that these markets have, the release added.
