EurAsEC food security concept to be signed in December, 2009

The prime ministers plan to sign EurAsEC food security concept in December, 2009. First Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Igor Petrishenko, informed in Minsk at the opening of the sessions of permanent commissions of EurAsEC Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the agency reports citing news agency BELTA.

Almaty. October 15. Kazakhstan Today - The prime ministers plan to sign EurAsEC food security concept in December, 2009. First Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Igor Petrishenko, informed in Minsk at the opening of the sessions of permanent commissions of EurAsEC Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the agency reports citing news agency BELTA.

According to BELTA, the document defines food security concept, its components, and criteria for assessment of the level of food safety in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Community.

According to BELTA, I. Petrishenko said, "Belarus attaches vital significance to the joint measures of EurAsEC states for minimization of the impact of the world economic crisis." EurAsEC - one of the most authoritative associations on the post-Soviet territory and is certainly able to resist the world economic crisis.

I. Petrishenko underlined that Belarus supports expansion of partnership within EurAsEC not only in economic, but also in social, humanitarian and other spheres. "We need to concentrate on the work towards completion of formation of the Customs Union and creation of the common energy market and uniform transport space," Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus said.
