Final decision on creation of Central Asian hydro-power consortium to be accepted in April in Bishkek

The final decision on creation of hydro-power consortium of the Central Asian countries is planned to be accepted in the end of April in Bishkek. The Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan Duysenbay Turganov informed today at the press conference, following the results of the session of the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan intergovernmental commission, the agency reports.

Astana. April 17. Kazakhstan Today - The final decision on creation of hydro-power consortium of the Central Asian countries is planned to be accepted in the end of April in Bishkek. The Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan Duysenbay Turganov informed today at the press conference, following the results of the session of the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan intergovernmental commission, the agency reports.

"We have considered the problem of creation of hydro-power consortium and have discussed an opportunity of signing the quadrilateral contract between Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. We planned the concrete terms for solution of this question, planned to gather in Bishkek on April 29-30 and to make the final decision," Vice Minister said.

As it was informed earlier, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2003 with a view of uniform distribution and mutually beneficial use of the resources suggested all countries of the region creating hydro-power consortium, however, practical steps for realization of this idea have not been undertaken yet.
