Finland to open embassy in Astana

Finland intends to open its embassy in Astana. The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland Alexander Stubb said, following the results of the negotiations with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the briefing on Wednesday, the agency reports.

Astana. July 3. Kazakhstan Today - Finland intends to open its embassy in Astana. The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland Alexander Stubb said, following the results of the negotiations with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev at the briefing on Wednesday, the agency reports.

"I am considering an opportunity of creation of permanent mission - embassy in Astana," A. Stubb said.

"There are two reasons. The first is that Kazakhstan possesses a strategic role in Central Asia. The second reason - economic," the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland explained.

"Finnish companies are interested to work in Kazakhstan in the sphere of information technologies, energy and services."

"I have traveled to five Central Asian countries and understood how important it is to have embassy in Astana," the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland noted.

A. Stubb informed that he passed the invitation from the leadership of his country to the President of Kazakhstan, N. Nazarbayev, to visit Finland next year.

MP's emphasized that a recent official visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, to France has given new impulse to development of relations of two countries.

Majilis vice Speaker Zhanibek Karibzhanov confirmed readiness of Kazakhstan party to further strengthen integration with the European international organizations, including with European Union and national parliaments.
