III Meeting of ministers for Foreign Affairs - CICMA members began in Almaty
Almaty. August 25. Kazakhstan Today - III meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICMA) member states with participation of the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev began in Almaty, the agency reports.
III meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs is the important stage of preparation for CICMA III summit planned for 2010.
As it was informed earlier, one of the important results of the forthcoming meeting will be admission of new members to the organization - Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
The delegations of 20 CICMA member states, observers and visitors will take part in the meeting.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan press release, the main focus of the meeting will be on questions of practical realization of the Cooperative approaches to CICMA confidence building accepted in 2007.
According to the agenda, the meeting participants will accept two final documents - Declaration of III Ministerial Meeting and the text of Convention on legal capacity, privileges and immunities of CICMA secretariat and its personnel.
CISMA member states will sign the protocol on introduction of amendments to the Agreement on CISMA secretariat, providing relocation of headquarters of the organization from Almaty to Astana to maintain more favorable conditions for work of the secretariat with diplomatic missions and the offices of the international organizations accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
By the decisions of the Ministerial meeting the State of Qatar will receive the status of CICMA observer.
The First Forum on safety and cooperation in the Central Asian-Caspian region with participation of the experts and scientists of the world level started its work simultaneously with the Ministerial meeting. The subject of the expert analysis and discussion during the forum is the role of the Central Asian-Caspian region in global and Asian system of safety, interaction and cooperation in economic, humanitarian, military-political and other spheres.
