Intergovernmental agreement - Electrical transmission line Central Asia - Southern Азия-1000 project signed in Islamabad

The Intergovernmental agreement on development of the project of electrical transmission line Central Asia - Southern Asia - 1000 and further development of the Central-Asian and South-Asian electro power market was signed in Islamabad during the fourth conference of participants of the project Central-and South-Asian electro energy market (CASAREM) on Wednesday, the agency reports referring to Asia Plus agency.

Almaty. August 7. Kazakhstan Today - The Intergovernmental agreement on development of the project of electrical transmission line Central Asia - Southern Asia - 1000 and further development of the Central-Asian and South-Asian electro power market was signed in Islamabad during the fourth conference of participants of the project Central-and South-Asian electro energy market (CASAREM) on Wednesday, the agency reports referring to Asia Plus agency.

The Minister of Energy of Pakistan, Minister of Power and Water Resources of Afghanistan, Minister of Industry, Power and Fuel Resources of the Kyrgyzstan Republic, the chairman of the State Committee for Investments and Management of State Property of Tajikistan signed the document.

Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Tajikistan signed the Memorandum of mutual understanding concerning creation of electro power connections between the Central and Southern Asia (project CASA-1000) for the sum of $500 million at CASAREM the 3rd conference held in November, 2007 in Kabul.

The agreement is aimed at creation of electro power networks for transfer of current from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Pakistan through the territory of Afghanistan. According to the document, 1300 MBt of electric power will be transferred to Pakistan from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The extent of the system of high-voltage transmission lines between Tajikistan and Pakistan through Afghanistan will make 750 kilometers.
