International counterterrorist training to be held in Almaty

International counterterrorist training Atom-Antiterror - 2008 will be held in Almaty on June 6. The official representative of Foreign Policy Department of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev informed at the briefing on Tuesday, the agency reports.

Astana. June 4. Kazakhstan Today - International counterterrorist training Atom-Antiterror - 2008 will be held in Almaty on June 6. The official representative of Foreign Policy Department of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev informed at the briefing on Tuesday, the agency reports.

International counterterrorist training Atom-Antiterror - 2008 will take place on June 6, 2007 in Almaty initiated by the Kazakhstan party during the third meeting of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism, Y. Ashikbayev informed.

He reminded that Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism, the participants of which is 71 countries, was initiated by the Presidents of Russia and USA in July, 2006 with the purpose of creation of the international multilevel system of defense and directed at strengthening of co-operation of world community on prevention of falling of nuclear weapons into terrorists' hands.

Kazakhstan was one of the first countries to join the initiative, being one of first partners along with Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, China, Russia, USA, Turkey, France and Japan. Kazakhstan took active part in the first two meetings taken place in Rabat (Morocco) and Ankara (Turkey). The third meeting took place on June, 11-12, 2007 in Astana.

"The forthcoming training Atom-Antiterror -2008 will become a noticeable contribution of our country to practical realization of the Global Initiative, in international efforts on struggle against nuclear terrorism," Kazakhstan MFA representative underlined.
