Jerusalem to host 2019 Eurovision

This yearИs winner of Eurovision is Netta Barzilai.
The government of Israel has already started the preparation for the contest Eurovision which will take place in 2019 in Jerusalem. It was reported by Culture Minister Miri Regev, Israel News informs.

If Eurovision is to be held in Israel, Jerusalem will be the only place for holding. I will strongly defend this point. The state of Israel has its capital city –Jerusalem. And if they do not want to come to the place that we designate as the organizers of the contest, they should not come to Israel at all," says Mrs. Regev.

The Culture Minister also informed she would provide notification informing that the capital city of Israel is Jerusalem.

At the same time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also noted that Israel is proud of holding the prestigious song contest.

These days, Jerusalem is blessed with many gifts, and one more we received last night after Netta's brilliant victory. The gift is that next year Eurovision will be held in Jerusalem. We will be proud to hold it," Netanyahu said.

It is noted that Israel refused to hold the Eurovision song contest on its territory only once, 1980, and completely voluntarily "because of financial reasons."

In 1979, the contest was successfully held in Jerusalem, and the Israeli artists won a deserved victory on it for the second time in a row performing Hallelujah.

The government decided that the country has no money to conduct a prestigious, but costly event for the second time in a row, and the 1980 contest was held in the "neutral" Hague.

In 1999, after the victory of Dana International, Eurovision was again held in Jerusalem. According to the terms of the contest, each country can choose the venue of the contest itself, and this place does not have to be the capital city.

We note that following the votes of viewers and professional judges, Israeli singer Netta Barzilai has won the international song contest performing the song of Toy and scored 529 points.
