Kazakhstan and NATO discussed prospects of cooperation - MFA

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, and NATO Deputy Secretary General, Claudio Bisogniero, discussed prospects of cooperation of Kazakhstan and NATO in Astana on Thursday. Kazakhstan Today - The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, and NATO Deputy Secretary General, Claudio Bisogniero discussed prospects of cooperation of Kazakhstan and NATO in Astana on Thursday. NATO Deputy Secretary General, Claudio Bisogniero informed at the briefing after the meeting on Thursday, the agency reports.

"Kazakhstan is our key partner in the Central Asian region. We would like to strengthen and expand our relations in the near future," C. Bisogniero said.

"We discussed all the questions with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Marat Tazhin, all directions of our cooperation, exchanged opinions on current news, and defined how we can expand our cooperation," he noted.

According to NATO Deputy Secretary General, "the organization plans a very important event in the next year - security forum that will take place in Kazakhstan in June with participation of over 50 countries."

Kazakhstan and NATO began their cooperation when Kazakhstan joined the North Atlantic Cooperation Council (NACC) in 1992.

NACC allows Kazakhstan carrying out fruitful dialogue with NATO member countries and the countries of the Eurasian space on urgent questions of international security.
