Kazakhstan calls upon ACD member states to solve problem of food security - MFA

Kazakhstan calls upon Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) member states to more actively solve the problem of food security. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, stated today at the briefing during the break of VII meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs ACD, the agency reports.

Astana. October 16. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan calls upon Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) member states to more actively solve the problem of food security. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, stated today at the briefing during the break of VII meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs ACD, the agency reports.

"Kazakhstan plans to prioritize questions of maintenance of food safety and calls upon ACD member states to solve this problem," M. Tazhin said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan noted that taking into account dynamical development of banking and financial sector in the Republic, Kazakhstan intends to revive the work of ACD on development of the Asian securities market with the use of such a tool as Regional Financial City Centre Almaty.

The Minister emphasized that the presidency of our country in ACD in 2008 - 2009 is the evidence of the increased authority and importance of Kazakhstan.

"During presidency of Kazakhstan in ACD, the member countries of the Dialogue will hold a number of meetings directed at acceleration of the Asian integration in various areas of cooperation," he explained. "In particular, it is necessary to note the 2nd Energy Forum of ACD Ministers in March - April, 2009 in Pakistan and the 1st Transport Forum of ACD Ministers in Kazakhstan in April, 2009, and other events," M. Tazhin concluded.
