"A special session on discussion of the draft agreement between the government of Kazakhstan and the government of the Peoples Republic of China on protection of transboundary rivers was held at the level of vice ministers of environmental protection ministries of two countries on May 26 - 28, 2010 in Beijing," N. Ashimov informed.

"The session participants discussed, in the preliminary order coordinated the text of the draft agreement, and reached an arrangement to carry out a special session to discuss it in the third decade of August of 2010."

N. Ashimov reminded, "The majority of rivers of Kazakhstan originate in the neighboring states and that is why the republic depends - 48 % on the water resources of other states." "Therefore, regional cooperation and transboundary water resources management are priorities," he underlined.
