Kazakhstan considers Romania an important political and economic partner in the European Union.

Astana. October 11. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan considers Romania an important political and economic partner in the European Union. The Minister of Economics and Budgetary Planning of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov informed today during the opening of the 6th session of the Intergovernmental Kazakhstan-Romanian commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.

Vice Minister of Economy and Finance of Romania, the State Secretary V. Palashka noted that Romania wishes further development of the Kazakhstan-Romanian relations and growth of commodity turnover between the countries. "We consider that strengthening of communications of our countries in economic as well as other areas will grow," V. Palashka concluded.

The agenda includes the questions of bilateral trade and economic development in the field of energy and industries: cooperation between Chambers of Commerce of Kazakhstan and Romania and cooperation in a number of other areas: sciences, tourism, international transport, agriculture, and banking.

According to the Kazakhstan statistics, volume of commodity turnover between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Romania in 2006 made $ 829.2 million and in comparison with 2005 ($ 534.8 million) increased by 55 %.

Thus, export of the Kazakhstan goods to Romania for 2006 made $ 747.1 million and in comparison with 2005 ($ 460.2 million) increased by 63 %. Import of the Romanian goods in Kazakhstan for 2006 totaled $ 82.1 million and in comparison with 2005 ($ 74.5 million) increased by 11 %.
