Kazakhstan delegation to take part in debate of 63 session of UN General Assembly

The delegation of Kazakhstan headed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Marat Tazhin, will take part in the general debate of the 63rd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations on September 23 - October 1 in the headquarters of the United Nations in New York. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, informed during weekly briefing on Monday.

"The main event during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs will be his speech in the hall of General Assembly of the United Nations during which he will talk about position of Kazakhstan on the urgent issues of the global agenda of the organization, Y. Ashikbayev emphasized.

"During the main part of the 63rd session of General Assembly the participants will consider more than 160 items on the agenda." "Among them are maintenance of peace and security, struggle against terrorism, protection of human rights and environment, and social and economic development," the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.

He noted that "the assembly will continue consideration of the questions concerning reforming of Security Council, activization of the work and struggle against HIV/AIDS.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan will take part in the meetings of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of quintet of OSCE countries - chairmen, Group of Friends - Alliance of Civilizations and the Asia Cooperation Dialogue and will hold a number of bilateral meetings with the management of the United Nations and his foreign counterparts.

"The chairman of Kazakhstan delegation will meet Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the member states of the organization, Y. Ashikbayev concluded.

The UN General Assembly is the main advisory body of the United Nations and consists of representatives of all member states, each of which has one vote.
