Kazakhstan joined International Convention on Harmonization and Simplification of Customs Procedures

Kazakhstan has joined the International Convention on the Harmonization and Simplification of Customs Procedures (the reconsidered Kyoto Convention). The chairman of Committee of Customs Control of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, Kozy-Korpesh Karbuzov, presented the document at the 113th and 114th sessions of Customs Cooperation Council in Brussels to the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, last Friday, the agency reports citing the official mass media.

Almaty. June 29. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan has joined the International Convention on the Harmonization and Simplification of Customs Procedures (the reconsidered Kyoto Convention). The chairman of the Customs Cooperation Council of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, Kozy-Korpesh Karbuzov, presented the document at the 113th and 114th sessions of Customs Cooperation Council in Brussels to the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, last Friday, the agency reports citing the official mass media.

"The head of the customs service of Kazakhstan presented the WCO Secretary General with the tool for joining of the International Convention on the Harmonization and Simplification of Customs Procedures (the reconsidered Kyoto Convention). Kazakhstan became 60 contracting party of the Convention that assumes introduction of the world standards into the process of simplification of procedures of customs control," the message states.

The Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan and World Customs Organization signed the memorandum on establishment of the WCO regional educational centre in Astana on Friday. The document was signed by K. Karbuzov and WCO Secretary General, K. Mikuriya. The educational centre in Astana is planned to be opened in December, 2009 during the working visit of WCO Secretary General to Kazakhstan.

The head of customs service of Kazakhstan held a number of working meetings in Brussels with WCO management and his foreign counterparts from Azerbaijan, Argentina, Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Finland, and the United Arab Emirates to discuss the important questions of mutual cooperation and the prospects of its development.

The delegations of customs administrations from more than 170 WCO member states and more than 20 international organizations took part in the 113th and 114th sessions of the Customs Cooperation Council.
