Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan leaders convinced mutual commodity tunover can reach $1 bln

Commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan can be increased in the near future up to $1 billion. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the press conference, following the results of the negotiations with the leader of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev on Thursday, the agency reports.

Astana. April 18. Kazakhstan Today - Commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan can be increased in the near future up to $1 billion. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the press conference, following the results of the negotiations with the leader of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev on Thursday, the agency reports.

"Mutual commodity turnover for the last years exceeded $530 million and has increased in comparison with 2006 by 42 %", the leader of Kazakhstan noted. "Thus, we overcame half a billion boundary of commodity turnover.

N. Nazarbayev noted that Kazakhstan today is the active investor of the Kyrgyzstan Republic and occupies the first place among other investors. As he said, "8 thousand workplaces and 400 joint ventures were created with participation of the Kazakhstan capital last year."

The President informed that during the negotiations the parties designated the objectives for further development of trade and economic cooperation and cultural-humanitarian relations.

The leader of Kyrgyzstan informed that during the meeting priorities of development of trade and economic cooperation have been defined. "Our opinions have coincided in the necessity of further strengthening allied relations that should raise bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level," he emphasized." Thus, the emphasis has been made on development of investment cooperation. In this context we discussed the questions of the prompt launch of the joined Kyrgyzstan-Kazakhstan investment fund," Bakiyev added.
