United Nations. September 27. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan proposed to attach the International fund of Aral rescue the status of the UN institute. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev stated in New York during the debate of the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly.

"The Central Asian states has done much for restoration of the sea, however, consolidation of efforts of the world community to solve the problem is necessary. I again propose, as I did at the summit of the Earth in 2003, to attach the International fund of Aral rescue the status of the UN institute," N. Nazarbayev said.

The President has reminded, that by the 90th of the last century once large internal Aral Sea lost three quarters of its water mass. "It became a disaster for millions of people living around the sea. Salt from bared bottom of the sea is being carried across all Eurasia, damaging ecology," the President ascertained.

"Kazakhstan welcomes the decision of the General Assembly to emphasize the problems connected with change of climate, as a priority theme of the present session ", - it has declared.

In this connection, the leader of the state has drawn attention to the initiative of Kazakhstan put forward at the Johannesburg summit on steady development. The President once again suggested, "creating within the limits of the United Nations the List of world environmental problems." "This document will help development of mechanisms of struggle against ecological catastrophes," he considers.
