Kazakhstan still committed to close space coop with Russia - MFA

"Kazakhstan has always been looking to expand its participation in the space activity of the Baikonur space launch facility and seriously enhance its space potential. In this regard, we believe it would be regretful to miss the opportunity to continue our close cooperation with such an important space power as Russia, particularly within our own space launch facility," the MFA statement reads.

Astana. January 11. Kazakhstan Today - Foreign Affairs Ministry of Kazakhstan has posted its comment on its official web site regarding the recent media coverage on the situation related to the Baikonur space launch facility.

"We would like to utilize the existing cooperation potential to its fullest in order to better provide for the needs of our economy. We believe that the space cooperation will grow even more effective and fruitful for both Kazakhstan and Russia. It is no coincidence that Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia reconfirmed the importance of space cooperation on December 19 in Moscow. The leaders of our countries recognize the importance of maintaining Baikonur as a symbol of our successful bilateral cooperation," MFA says in the statement.
