Kazakhstan to continue supplying uranium to Brazil

In April 2018 'KazAtomProm' national atomic company won the tender to supply uranium concentrate for Indъstrias Nucleares do Brasil for an amount of 13.7 million dollars.
Kazakhstan and Brazil intend to cooperate in the energy sector. This year's list of products exported from Kazakhstan to Brazil has been added with uranium concentrate. Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil Kairat Sarzhanov said in a briefing in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.

This event is important to develop cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in the peaceful uses of atomic energy. Nowadays consultations are underway on a draft cooperation agreement in peaceful uses of atomic energy. The conclusion of the document will open new opportunities to use, develop and apply atomic energy. I should say that Brazil is among the 10 states having a full cycle of nuclear technologies. In addition to this, Brazil shows interest in Kazakhstan's experience in producing uranium by methods of underground leaching," said Kairat Sarzhanov.


In addition, within the economic partnership of the two states, Air Astana company purchases planes manufactured in Brazil.

Brazil's Embraer planes are purchased, which is the leader on the world market of regional passenger places. Air Astana exploits such 9 planes, additional 5 planes will be delivered by the next year's end. The sides discuss the creation of an aviation and technical base to maintenance Embraer planes on the territory of Kazakhstan," said Kairat Sarzhanov.


According to him, the Brazilian side expresses interest to construct a renewable energy sources power station in Kazakhstan considering their experience in constructing such stations in 29 states of the United States and Canada. They wait for the announcement of tenders to construct such power stations in Kazakhstan.

He also noted that following the State Revenue Committee of the Finance Ministry of Kazakhstan, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Brazil for the period between this January and August has been 82.3 million dollars. Kazakhstan's exports - 31.8 million dollars, imports from Brazil - 50.5 million dollars.

The main importing items from Brazil are sugar, tobacco, planes, machinery and their components, construction materials, meat, orange juice. In turn, the main exporting items of Kazakhstan to Brazil - sulphur, ferroalloy from iron and silicon, plastic products, rubber and ferrous metal.
