Kazakhstan, UAE signed agreement on opening of Islamic Bank in Astana

The agreement between the government of Kazakhstan and the government of the United Arab Emirates on opening in Kazakhstan of the Islamic Bank was signed in Astana on Thursday, the agency reports.

Astana. June 12. Kazakhstan Today - The government of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates signed the agreeemnt on opening in Kazakhstan of the Islamic Bank on Thursday, the agency reports.

According to the government of Kazakhstan, the parties are working on the plan of measures on creation of the bank. Kazakhstan will receive a permission to open the bank in September, 2009. The bank's authorized capital stock will be more than 100 million Dirham (1 Dirham = 40.94 KZT). The bank's branches will be opened in Astana and Almaty.

According to the press service, JSC Samruk-Kazyna directed letters to 50 leading Islamic Banks, including the Emirates party, to establish cooperation and participation in the share capital of Islamic Banking and Finance.
