Kazakhstan, USA signed Participatory Action Plan in Nuclear Power Industry

Kazakhstan and the USA signed the Participatory Action Plan in Nuclear Security, Nuclear Power, Oil and Gas and Electric Power Industry. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan, Sauat Mynbayev, informed during the session of the joint Kazakhstan-American Commission on Energy Partnership, the agency reports.

Astana. October 8. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan and the USA signed the Participatory Action Plan in Nuclear Security, Nuclear Power, Oil and Gas and Electric Power Industry. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan, Sauat Mynbayev, informed during the session of the joint Kazakhstan-American Commission on Energy Partnership, the agency reports.

"Our experts discussed different questions and have come to an agreement. The USA and Kazakhstan have expressed intention to not only expand the existing cooperation between the countries in such spheres as oil and gas and nuclear energy, but are also ready to expand cooperation in such areas as alternative energy sources and electric power," First Vice Minister of Energy USA, Daniel Poneman, informed.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan and the USA, in the field of nuclear security and atomic engineering, intend to cooperate in preventing threat of nuclear weapons proliferation, securing vulnerable nuclear materials, minimizing application of rich uranium concentrates, preventiing illegal transportation of nuclear materials, strengthening nuclear material export control systems, and observing the international guarantees of physical security.
