Kyrgyzstan, USA signed memorandum of prevention of illegal distribution of nuclear materials

The governments of Kyrgyzstan and the USA signed the memorandum on prevention of illegal distribution of nuclear materials, the agency reports referring to the press service of the State Customs Committee of the Kyrgyzstan Republic.

Bishkek. August 19. Kazakhstan Today - The governments of Kyrgyzstan and the USA signed the memorandum on prevention of illegal distribution of nuclear materials, the agency reports referring to the press service of the State Customs Committee of the Kyrgyzstan Republic.

According to the press service, the memorandum regulates the issues of cooperation in the field of detection and suppression of cases of illegal transportation of nuclear and other radioactive materials by establishing technical and methodological cooperation, including installation and modernization of technical systems of detection and identification of such materials on check points of Kyrgyzstan.

"According to the arrangements, about 15 check points will be equipped with technical systems of tracking down and identification of radioactive materials. The American side on behalf of the Department of State on Energy incurs all the expenses, including preparation of employees of customs bodies and other personnel for use of the equipment," the press service of State Customs Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

The memorandum will allow customs service carrying out customs control of import and export of goods and vehicles with the possible increased radioactive background as well as goods of dual purpose more effectively.
