Leaders of Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan signed memorandum of tripartite cooperation in energy sphere

The leaders of the states of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmud Ahmadinezhad, and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzay, following the results of the meeting, signed the memorandum on tripartite cooperation in energy sphere in Dushanbe in the Palace Somon on the territory of the governmental residence on the eve of the tripartite meeting, the agency reports referring to Asia-Plus.

Kazakhstan Today - The leaders of the states of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmud Ahmadinezhad, and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzay, following the results of the meeting, signed the memorandum on tripartite cooperation in energy sphere in Dushanbe in the Palace Somon on the territory of the governmental residence on the eve of the tripartite meeting, the agency reports referring to Asia-Plus.

According to the press service of Tajikistan President, E. Rahmon, M. Ahmadinedzhad and H. Karzay discussed a number of projects on tripartite and regional cooperation.

During the meeting the parties emphasized that realization of joint projects in the area of construction of roads, tunnels and automobile bridges, and the railways connecting three countries, high-voltage electric lines from Tajikistan to Iran and Pakistan through Afghanistan will help increase of well-being of the people of the region.

Realization of such projects will positively affect restoration of economy of Afghanistan and maintenance of peace in this country.

The parties supported the idea of creation of the uniform center for attraction of investments into the economy of three countries.

Following the results of the negotiations, the parties signed: the memorandum of completion of civil works on the automobile tunnel Istiklol between Tajikistan and Iran, the Joint Statement of the President of Tajikistan, E. Rahmon, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, M. Ahmadinedzhad and the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, H. Karzay.
