Maintenance of boundary safety on external borders of CIS states to be discussed in Baku

The sixtieth session of the Council of commanders-in-chief of the CIS Joint Armed Forces will be held within two days, on September 19-20 in Baku, the agency reports referring to RIA Novosti.

Almaty. September 19. Kazakhstan Today - The sixtieth session of the Council of commanders-in-chief of the CIS Joint Armed Forces will be held within two days, on September 19-20 in Baku, the agency reports referring to RIA Novosti.

The council members will consider more than 20 questions. The main attention will be given to solution of practical problems of maintenance of boundary safety on external borders of the CIS member states within the limits of the Plan of Realization of the Concept of the Coordinated Boundary Policy of the CIS member states for 2007 - 2010.

According to the agency, the event is being held to increase efficiency of planning of joint special boundary operations and operatively-preventive actions for 2009.

The session participants will discuss the questions of exchange of experience of use of new forms and ways of protection of external borders of the CIS member states for counteraction to the main challenges and threats of safety in modern conditions, struggle against criminality, illegal circulation of drugs, psychotropic substances, terrorism and illegal migration.

The representatives of 11 boundary departments of the CIS member states and cooperating bodies - CIS Executive Committee, CIS Antiterrorist Center and EurAsEC will participate in the session.
