Malaysian National Library receives 287 items from Kazakhstan

The collection, comprising books, compact disc and CDs, video tapes, calendars, maps, postcards and posters, is aimed at inculcating reading habit among Malaysians, and promote educational cooperation between the two countries.

Kuala Lumpur. December 4. Kazakhstan Today - The National Library of Malaysia (PNM) on Friday received a total of 287 items from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to Bernama, "the collection, comprising books, compact disc and CDs, video tapes, calendars, maps, postcards and posters, is aimed at inculcating reading habit among Malaysians, and promote educational cooperation between the two countries."

"I am confident that these itemss will help Malaysians to learn and understand more about Kazakhstan, thus strengthening the bilateral cooperation to a higher level," said PNM director-general Datuk Raslin Abu Bakar at the handing-over ceremony at the library.

"The items were handed over to Raslin by the embassy's charge d' affaires in Malaysia, Yernur Tuyakbayev, in conjunction with Saturday's celebration of Kazakhstan's First President Day," the Malaysian National news agency reports.

"The First President Day celebration is held to thank the one and only President Nursultan Nazarbayev who created an international recognition for the country, since it emerged on the world political map on Dec 16, 1991," the article concludes.
