Medvedev and Yanukovych agreed on deliveries of gas and stay of the Black Sea fleet in Ukraine
Almaty. April 22. Kazakhstan Today - The Presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Dmitry Medvedev and Victor Yanukovych, signed the agreements on the stay of the Black Sea fleet of the Russian Federation in the territory of Ukraine and agreed on a discount for Russian gas, the agency reports citing ITAR-TASS.
According to the Russian news agency, the duration of the stay of the Russian base in the Black sea has been extended for 25 years. As V. Yanukovych explained, Kiev met Russia halfway and accelerated the decision on the stay of the Black Sea fleet in the territory of Ukraine.
D. Medvedev said, following the results of the negotiations with V. Yanukovych, that "Ukraine will receive a discount for the Russian gas at the rate of $100 at the price of more than $330 for one thousand cubes, or 30 % of the specific price."
According to RBC newspaper daily, in 2010, the contract on quantity of gas for Ukraine will be 36.5 billion cubic meters. The price of gas will decrease for 30 billion cubic meters in 2010 and 40 billion cubic meters over the next years.
