Mission of CIS observers has started its work in parliamentary elections in Belarus on July 29, the agency reports referring to staff of mission of CIS observers.

Almaty. July 30. Kazakhstan Today - Mission of CIS observers has started its work in parliamentary elections in Belarus on July 29, the agency reports referring to staff of mission of CIS observers.

The same day, the mission chairman, the chairman of Executive Committee - the Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth, Sergey Lebedev, met the chairman of the Central Commission of the Republic of Belarus for Elections and Referendums, Lydia Ermoshina. During the meeting the questions connected with organization of the work of observers from the CIS countries in parliamentary elections were discussed.

More than 300 people will participate in the structure of the mission for supervision of parliamentary elections in Belarus. About 35 representatives of the Commonwealth countries will be accredited as long-term observers who will start to work on 10 August. Short-term observers will arrive in the Republic a few days before the elections.

The staff of the mission of CIS observers will work in the building of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth in Minsk and its branches will be opened in all regional centers and the city of Minsk. It will allow organizing work of observers in the regions.

According to S. Lebedev, the decision of Belarus to invite international observers demonstrates that authorities intend to hold open and transparent elections, observing all democratic principles. And invitation of observers from the CIS countries demonstrates trust to the mission.

The chairman of the mission emphasized that observers from the Commonwealth plan to work in close contact with the authorities of Belarus and the Central Electoral Committee. "Our main goal - to help to secure transparency, democratic elections, and guarantee the rights of voters," S. Lebedev considers.
