Nazarbayev, Wu Bangguo discussed strategic partnership

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev and China's top legislator Wu Bangguo discussed strategic partnership Tuesday during a three-day visit to China of Kazakhstan President, Kazakhstan Today reports.

Almaty. February 22. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev and China's top legislator Wu Bangguo discussed strategic partnership Tuesday during a three-day visit to China of Kazakhstan President, Kazakhstan Today reports.

China and Kazakhstan on Tuesday vowed to boost their strategic partnership and bilateral cooperation, Xinhua reported.

The pledge came out of a series of meetings between Chinese state leaders and visiting Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who is on a three-day state visit to China.

In the meeting between China's top legislator Wu Bangguo and Nazarbayev in Beijing Tuesday morning, the two sides stressed the importance of enhancing parliamentary exchanges and cooperation.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislative body, said parliamentary exchanges were an important part of state relations.

The NPC would continue to strengthen communication and cooperation with the Kazakh parliament and contribute to the development of China-Kazakhstan strategic partnership.

Nazarbayev said he would support a closer relationship between the two legislative bodies.

Wu said China would work with Kazakhstan to deepen pragmatic cooperation and strengthen communication and coordination within multilateral frameworks.

Nazarbayev said China was Kazakhstan's close friend and strategic partner. Kazakhstan, which was mapping out a development plan for the next five years, wanted to learn from China's 12th Five-Year Program (2011-2015) and its experience in building an innovative nation. Kazakhstan would promote cooperation with China in all areas and at all levels.

On Tuesday afternoon, Chinese President Hu Jintao will hold talks with Nazarbayev and Premier Wen Jiabao will also meet him. The two countries are expected to sign a series of documents on bilateral cooperation after the two presidents' talks.

Nazarbayev will also visit north China's Tianjin.
