Next session of Council of Prime Ministers of SCO states to take place in Astana

The next session of the Council of Prime Ministers of the member states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will take place in Astana on October 29-30, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

Astana. October 29. Kazakhstan Today - The next session of the Council of Prime Ministers of the member states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will take place in Astana on October 29-30, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

According to the press service, the representatives of the states-observers will take part in the work of the Council of Prime Ministers besides the Prime Ministers of the SCO member states. During the work of SCO Council of Prime Ministers the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev will meet the chairmen of delegations.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, following the results of the session, the parties will sign the joint communique and working documents concerning cooperation between SCO member states.

The last meeting of Prime Ministers of the SCO member states took place in Tashkent in the beginning of November, 2007. At the session of the Council the participants made the decision on the SCO budget for 2008 and the arrangement on carrying out of the next session in 2008 in Kazakhstan. Following the results of Tashkent session, the participants signed the joint communique, the agreement between the governments of the SCO member states on cooperation and mutual aid in customs affairs.

The forthcoming session of the Council of Prime Ministers of SCO member states in Astana will be held after Dushanbe session in August, 2008 of the leaders of the SCO member states, which is of great importance in the context of practical realization of the arrangements reached during Dushanbe summit.

According to the press service, as of today, SCO membership, which was founded in 2001 on the basis of the Shanghai five (Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China and Tajikistan) and later Uzbekistan, is one of the priority directions of the Kazakhstan foreign policy.
