Participants of antiterrorist operation responsible for growth of drug related crimes in Afghanistan
Almaty. May 7. Kazakhstan Today - The participants of the antiterrorist operation in Afghanistan are responsible for uncontrollable growth of the number of drug related crimes in this country. The chairman of the Russian State Duma, Boris Gryzlov, said making comments on the statement of the State Duma in connection with the increased threat of threat of spread of drugs from Afghanistan for the international security, the agency reports citing the State Duma of the Russian Federation press service.
"Accepting the statement, the State Duma draws attention of the countries - participants of the antiterrorist operation in Afghanistan that they are responsible for uncontrollable growth of the number of crimes connected with drugs in this country. It is obvious that the state-participants of the antiterrorist operation in Afghanistan should pay more attention to struggle against illegal circulation of drugs," B. Gryzlov stated.
He emphasized that, "Despite the presence in Afghanistan of NATO forces, volume of manufacture of drugs in this country continues to grow. According to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), manufacture of opium in Afghanistan has grown from 2001 till 2008 by 42 times and has been 7700 tons.
"The State Duma of the Russian Federation considers that all the interested states and the international organizations should take part in successfully realized under the aegis of the CSTO operatively-preventive operation Channel and be involved in creation of the belts of anti narcotic and financial security along the Afghan borders," the message states.
